Chispa Arizona

As the lead designer for work with Chispa Arizona, I've had the opportunity to create impactful visual solutions dedicated to building Latinx political power for climate justice. Chispa Arizona empowers Latino communities to advocate for environmental justice, clean air and water, healthy neighborhoods, and a safe climate for future generations. My comprehensive design contributions have helped Chispa Arizona effectively communicate its mission and engage its community through culturally resonant visuals and strategic messaging.

My contributions to the Chispa Arizona partnership include:

  • Brand Development: Led the visual evolution of Chispa Arizona's brand identity for their Votando Y Plantando initiative, creating a cohesive system that authentically represents the intersection of environmental justice and Latino community power

  • Campaign Design: Crafted visual identities for multiple environmental justice initiatives, including their "Clean and Green" campaign addressing urban heat, air quality, and social inequities in Maricopa County

  • Creative Direction: Provided strategic guidance on visual storytelling approaches that connect environmental issues with cultural values and community-centered solutions

  • Social Media Graphics: Designed engaging bilingual content highlighting Chispa's community organizing, advocacy work, and policy priorities around clean energy and climate justice

  • Custom Illustrations: Created distinctive illustrations visualizing environmental concepts through culturally relevant symbols and motifs that resonate with Latino communities

  • Print Materials: Developed protest signs, event materials, educational brochures, and community resources with attention to accessibility and cultural authenticity

My design approach for Chispa Arizona balances activism aesthetics with professional polish, creating a visual language that feels both authentic and authoritative. The work incorporates colors reflecting the Arizona landscape, bold typography that commands attention, and thoughtful integration of cultural elements that celebrate Latino identity and environmental connection.

Through this collaboration, I've applied my design skills to advance environmental justice, creating work that educates communities, mobilizes advocates, and influences policymakers to address climate issues with an equity-centered approach that prioritizes the voices of those most affected by environmental injustice.
